CODES AND CONVENTIONS

 Codes and conventions applied to our 

film opening

We used a ton of code and conventions I our film opening including:

• Sound
• Lightning 
• Suspense

Sound is a code that is employed in thriller and horror films. 

Filmmakers employ a number of methods, including unexpected loud noises, ominous music, and silence, to elicit tension and suspense through sound.

For instance, a loud blast or unexpected burst of music can cause viewers to leap out of their chairs, whereas quiet can evoke discomfort and suspense. Filmmakers influence their audience's feelings and reactions by adjusting the sound.

We used thriller music which was a little unsettling and we used that kind of music to keep our audience at the edge of their seats

Another significant code employed in thriller and horror films is lighting. In order to create a sinister and menacing mood, filmmakers frequently use shadows, gloomy lighting, and flickering lights.

We created a dark set only lit by candle lights to make it more sinister and to add that horror effect to it.

In order to build suspense, which is a crucial component of horror and thriller films, filmmakers employ a number of codes. Foreshadowing, in which subtle hints are dropped that something horrible is about to happen throughout the movie, is one of the most powerful strategies.

Misdirection is another tactic, where viewers are made to believe one thing will happen before something utterly unexpected happens. Filmmakers can increase the fright factor by keeping audiences on the edge of their seats by building up tension and expectation.

In our film opening we made it such that all the events were adding up to something that hinted that something bad was going to happen at the end which made the audience hooked to the end
